Archived correction note: AFSA NPII terminology.

This page is kept for transparency. It is not current product marketing, legal guidance, or an implementation note.

Archived. This post has been removed from the main blog timeline. The current product framing is simple: Hoist Assets provides org-only Australian source checks for agents where the relevant source access is available, and we do not claim an AFSA NPII carve-out for PPSR data.

Current public position

  • AFSA's NPII means the National Personal Insolvency Index. That is a bankruptcy register. It is not Hoist's PPSR product.
  • Hoist no longer uses NPII as shorthand. The product boundary is called org-only PPSR: organisation and serial-number searches, not searches on people by name.
  • Org-only is a product boundary, not a carve-out claim. It says what Hoist is designed to search. It does not assert AFSA endorsement or a special legal exemption.
  • Current source-access status belongs on Trust pages. Readers should rely on the AFSA B2G status page and current docs, not this archived note.

Why this page exists

An earlier version of Hoist copy used "NPII" in a way that could be confused with AFSA's bankruptcy-register product. That was bad public positioning. We changed the language to org-only and kept this correction note so the history is visible.

The lesson is narrow: do not use internal shorthand in public copy when a regulator or source owner already uses the same acronym for something else.

What readers should use instead

For current public framing, use the org-only PPSR boundary, AFSA B2G status, and product docs. Those pages are the maintained public surfaces.

If you are assessing Hoist for procurement, compliance, or legal reliance, contact us and read the source terms directly. This archived blog post is not a substitute for that review.
