Hoist AI
FAQ

Answers for teams building with Australian data.

How HoistAI helps agents run live ABN/GST checks, review licences and red flags once their trusted snapshots load, receive source-cited Evidence Cards, and create separate prelaunch sample Evidence Pack exports through API, MCP, and CLI surfaces. Missing snapshots return source_unavailable; entity and asset monitoring and Asset/PPSR calls are currently unavailable.

  1. Check a business or invoice
  2. Review PPSR status (unavailable)
  3. Sample Evidence Packs
  4. Flag red flags for review
  5. Check licences and professionals
  6. Review the unavailable address/property contract boundary

Basics

What is HoistAI?

HoistAI powers AI agents with Australian data. Agents use it for live ABN/GST checks and snapshot-backed licence and red-flag reviews once each trusted snapshot loads. Missing snapshots return source_unavailable. Separate Evidence Pack exports are prelaunch samples with synthetic test data or unsearched rows. Entity and asset monitoring and Asset/PPSR calls are currently unavailable.

Is HoistAI only for grants and tenders?

HoistAI supports live ABN/GST checks and snapshot-backed business, red-flag, and selected professional-register checks once each trusted snapshot loads. Missing snapshots return source_unavailable. Prelaunch sample Evidence Pack exports remain sample-only. Address lookup, entity and asset monitoring, and Asset/PPSR calls are unavailable.

Can HoistAI check an invoice?

HoistAI can check live ABN and GST details on an invoice. Business-name, company, and charity context is returned only after its corresponding complete trusted snapshot loads; otherwise the request fails closed with source_unavailable. It does not prove bank account control.

What is PPSR in plain English?

PPSR is a register commonly used to check registered security interests over personal property. Hoist documents organisation and serial-number contract mechanics, but PPSR preview and paid search are not currently customer-accessible. Preview requests fail closed without a price or register dispatch; use AFSA direct today.

What is an Evidence Pack?

The current Evidence Pack export is a prelaunch workflow sample. Its ABR, GST, VIN, and PPSR rows contain synthetic test data or are unsearched, not source results. Current supported checks return source-cited Evidence Cards.

What does HoistAI not do?

HoistAI does not provide legal, financial, credit, tax, or compliance advice. It does not prove bank account control. It does not provide broad people-search products. Some source checks require approved account access.

What was Hoist?

Hoist is the trading-name context for HoistAI Pty Ltd and some billing/legal surfaces. Public product copy now uses HoistAI for the Australian data platform.

Is HoistAI a government service?

No. HoistAI is operated by HoistAI Pty Ltd. Hoist connects to Australian source systems and returns structured results your software can use.

Hoist does not replace registry records, legal advice, lender policy, or human review where your workflow requires it.

Who is HoistAI for?

HoistAI is for developers, agent builders, startups, internal AI teams, automation engineers, and platform teams that need Australian source data inside software workflows.

Common patterns include business and invoice checks before payment, licence verification, and source-cited Evidence Cards for agent decisions. Separate Evidence Pack exports are prelaunch samples with synthetic test data or unsearched rows. Entity and asset monitoring and Asset/PPSR calls are currently unavailable.

Data

What data is available today?

Current public surfaces describe live ABN/GST checks, snapshot-dependent ASIC, ACNC, risk, and selected professional-register workflows, plus prelaunch sample Evidence Pack, audit, decision-memory, and health contracts. Snapshot-backed requests fail closed with source_unavailable until the corresponding complete, trusted snapshot is loaded. Address lookup is unavailable until Hoist proves a complete server-owned G-NAF snapshot. PPSR preview, paid search, certificates, and pricing are currently unavailable through Hoist.

Live ABR/GST traffic and any source-backed workflow whose snapshot is loaded may be account-gated. Public docs and sample responses show the contract; no current workflow requires paid-source billing.

How are additional sources handled?

The Data page groups source coverage by human product labels and lists the technical sources underneath.

When a workflow lacks source coverage, Hoist should mark that boundary explicitly instead of guessing or implying a register result exists.

What happens when source data is wrong?

Hoist returns what the source says, with source and timing context wherever the endpoint supports it.

If a registry has stale or incorrect data, the correction path stays with that source. Hoist does not rewrite the source record.

Does Hoist search people?

No. The documented PPSR contract is limited to organisation and serial-number subjects, and personal grantor search is outside the Hoist boundary. Neither PPSR preview nor paid search is currently customer-accessible.

That boundary is intentional: agent workflows get useful source checks without widening into personal search flows.

Interfaces

Do I need MCP?

No. Use REST when you own the application code, MCP when an AI host needs tools, and the CLI when you want repeatable terminal checks.

The same source access model applies across surfaces: access approval, authentication, and usage caps are enforced before live checks run.

How do API calls authenticate?

Provisioned REST and CLI calls use Hoist API keys. API calls send Authorization: Bearer <api_key>.

CLI calls pass the same API key with --token or HOIST_API_KEY.

How does MCP authenticate?

MCP uses OAuth. A human approves the permissions an AI host can use before the host can call Hoist tools.

Account pages and logs are private-preview for provisioned accounts; public self-serve account management is not open yet.

Does Hoist work with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, and Cursor?

Not as a blanket compatibility claim. Hoist publishes named-client setup guides, but current verification and limitations vary by host. ChatGPT Web is best-effort, Gemini Web is unsupported, and other guide rows remain pending unless marked verified.

Hoist uses Streamable HTTP only. Confirm OAuth, tool discovery, and a visible Hoist tool result using Integrations and the supported-host matrix before relying on a client.

Building

Can I build commercial products on Hoist?

Yes. Hoist is built for teams that need Australian source data in production software and agent workflows.

Commercial usage may still need the right account access for live ABN/GST traffic, snapshot-backed traffic after each required trusted source loads, or higher limits. Missing snapshots return source_unavailable. Any future paid-source workflow will require separate availability and pricing proof before it is enabled.

How is access controlled?

API keys, OAuth permissions, source access rules, and usage caps limit what a client can call.

Provisioned accounts can review account activity through private-preview account surfaces. Public self-serve account management is not open yet.

How does pricing work?

Live ABN/GST calls are free. Snapshot-backed workflows are free once each required complete, trusted snapshot loads; missing snapshots return source_unavailable. Billing infrastructure is reserved for future paid-source workflows, and billing setup does not change source availability.

PPSR preview and paid search are not currently customer-accessible. Preview requests fail closed without a price or register dispatch, and an account or plan does not unlock PPSR. See current PPSR status.

How do cards and invoices work?

No current workflow requires billing setup. If Hoist later enables a paid-source workflow, approved accounts will use the signed-in billing surface and Stripe will handle cards and invoices; Hoist will not collect card numbers in custom forms.
