What is ASIC entity intelligence?

ASIC entity intelligence is the company, business-name, AFSL, and ACL context Hoist uses to help an agent check whether a counterparty looks real, current, and consistent.

ASICLast updated 2026-05-29

ASIC entity intelligence means source-backed checks around an Australian entity: company identifiers, registered status, business names, Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) records, Australian Credit Licence (ACL) records, and related risk indicators where available.

Hoist does not turn an ASIC signal into a blanket approval. It returns field-level status so an agent can distinguish source-backed facts from gaps.

Verified, not verified, and human review

Verified means the field matched the source snapshot Hoist checked. Not verified means Hoist did not have source evidence for that field, the source did not return it, or the supplied value did not match with enough confidence. Human review required means the source result is ambiguous, stale, cancelled, name-similar rather than exact, or otherwise needs a person to decide.

Paid-search confirmation

ASIC-related checks distinguish free public search surfaces, sample responses, and paid current extracts. Paid ASIC current extracts and any paid source call must be confirmed by the user before dispatch. Hoist copy and tool responses should label sample or unavailable source data, and should not imply that a paid current extract has been purchased unless the response includes that search evidence.

Limitations

  • Hoist public copy does not claim ASIC current-extract access unless the response includes current-extract evidence.
  • ASIC prices, extract content, and search limits can change. Confirm paid/current extract limits directly with ASIC or your licensed information provider before relying on them commercially.
  • A company or licence status check is not legal, credit, insolvency, or payment-safety advice.
  • Director, banned-person, and other person-sensitive searches need separate scope and privacy review before any public product claim.

Related terms

  • ACN - A unique 9-digit number assigned by ASIC to every Australian company at registration.
  • ABN - A tax and business identifier that may be linked to a company ACN.
  • Register search - A source check against an official register or source.
  • Evidence Pack - The result bundle that carries field statuses, risk flags, and human review items.

How Hoist Assets uses this

Hoist uses ASIC entity intelligence to support counterparty checks, not to replace the source. See /docs for current tool and API status.
