AFSA direct search costs A$2. You log into the portal, run the search, and download the AFSA certificate. It is the official source artefact and it is free of any Hoist dependency. If you are doing one or two searches a year and do not need an agent workflow, API, or Evidence Pack, AFSA direct is genuinely the right answer. We are not trying to win that job.
When to pick AFSA direct
- You only need one manual search and do not need repeatable evidence.
- You are comfortable logging into the AFSA portal each time.
- You do not need an API, MCP server, or AI agent workflow.
- You want the official AFSA certificate with no intermediary markup.
When to pick Hoist
- Your AI tool of choice needs to check supported available sources and receive a source-cited Evidence Card.
- You want repeatable, timestamped evidence that can attach to a deal file or CRM record.
- You want an API, MCP server, or CLI so your workflow does not require a human browser session.
- You accept that Evidence Pack exports are prelaunch fixture or unsearched samples and PPSR preview and paid search are currently unavailable through Hoist.
